Accessibility Statement
Everyone deserves access to emergency services information. We design this site so all visitors can use it, including people with disabilities.
1. Our commitment
Berlin Area Ambulance Association is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply relevant accessibility standards, in the same spirit as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, which govern our programs and services.
2. Standard we follow
We aim to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA for this website. This includes:
- Text alternatives for meaningful images
- Keyboard navigation for all interactive elements
- Color contrast that meets WCAG AA thresholds
- Respect for reduced-motion preferences
- Semantic HTML with clear heading structure
- Visible focus indicators for keyboard users
- ARIA labels on icon-only controls
3. Accessibility measures
We take the following measures to maintain accessibility:
- Accessibility is part of our design review before content is published
- Our volunteer web team receives guidance on accessible authoring
- We test with keyboard-only navigation and screen readers
- We welcome accessibility feedback from the public and act on it
4. Known limitations
We are not aware of any current accessibility barriers on this site. Some historical photos may carry minimal descriptive text; if you encounter an image with missing description, please tell us and we will correct it.
