Born from neighbors helping neighbors
Berlin Area Ambulance was founded in 1967 when rural eastern Somerset County needed an ambulance service of its own. What started as a volunteer ambulance corps in 1967 is now a full ALS service with 10 paramedics, 21 EMTs and a crew of dedicated volunteers.
We remain an independent 501(c)(3), governed by a volunteer board and funded by the community we serve.

From 911 to on scene
Every call follows the same disciplined path, refined over three decades of service.
The call comes in
Somerset County 911 alerts our station. Duty crews and volunteer pagers activate at once, any hour, any weather.
Rolling in minutes
The nearest of our three stations launches. Career medics lead the run, volunteers back them up on scene.
Treatment on the way
Assessment begins at the door. ALS care continues in the ambulance, straight through to hospital handoff.
